Lau Berraondo
Lau graduated from The University of Leeds in 1995. He completed his vocational training in a prestigious practice in York before moving on to work in a busy NHS practice outside of Leeds, rising to the position of senior associate and running the practice until 2000.
He moved to the Ely area in 2000 to set up his own dental practice. Chequer Hall Dental Practice opened in April 2001 and quickly became the largest dental practice in the eastern region. Lau was appointed the Dental Advisor for the East Cambridgeshire and Fenland PCT in 2005. Chequer Hall was acquired by MyDentist in 2010.
Throughout his career, Lau has developed a keen interest in cosmetic and full mouth rehabilitative dentistry. Fuelled by his passion, he envisioned a dental practice that could offer the best and most advanced treatments in modern dentistry. This vision materialised in the form of Enhance, a state-of-the-art clinic that Lau established in June 2008. Today, Enhance is recognized as one of the leading clinics in the United Kingdom, attracting referrals and patients from across the country seeking advanced dental procedures such as implants, full mouth rehabilitation, endodontics, orthodontics, and periodontal surgery.
Lau is a member of The British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, an associate member of the American Academy and regularly attends many postgraduate courses. He has attained Level III (known as the Masters Level) in Aesthetic Dentistry at The Rosenthal Institute of New York University, whose faculty includes some of the best dentists in the world. He completed his implant GDC registration course in 2009 and has gone on to place hundreds of dental implants. He was the first dentist in East Anglia to teach the Esthetic Advantage Program from Nobel Biocare. He now runs regular courses for other dentists from the Teaching Suite at Enhance. He obtained his diploma in Dental Implant Surgery from the esteemed Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, furthering his expertise and credentials.
Lau has completed advanced courses in the use of Botulinum toxin, dermal fillers, PDO facial thread lifting and skin peels and has been taught by some of the best facial practitioners in the UK. Lau was the first clinician in Cambridgeshire to be included on the Independent Healthcare Advisory Services (IHAS) Register for Injectable Cosmetic Providers Quality Assurance Mark.
Outside of dentistry, Lau’s primary passion lies in his profession. He actively participates in global conferences and frequently volunteers his services in emergency clinics organised by various charities and refugee groups. Lau has provided dental care to hundreds of patients in refugee camps, making a significant impact on their lives. When he’s not practising dentistry, Lau enjoys spending time cooking on his traditional Parilla and socialising with his family and friends.
